Hello friends!  I hope everyone had a great holiday season, I know I did.  Well it's a new year, and with that comes change.  Unfortunatly for you and I, one of those changes involves this blog.  I guess I will just cut it to you straight, so here it is... my new job is way more work than my old one, and I'm getting married in May, and at this point ryanonfilm will shut down.  Thank you to everyone who posted comments, I hope that I added to all of your lives in some sort of way.  If you still want to keep up with what's going on with me, you can check out my personal blog.

So, make sure you sure watch good flicks
and I wish you all the best.

Doesn't matter to me if it's relative to the film:  So it was a big weekend for Will Smith and his son, but not really for Charlotte.  Anyways, those are your weekend numbers.

Burton and Carrey are back, but they are bringing that Thumb Guy with them...

Have a good Monday!

I'm telling you why... [16 Dec 2006|04:20pm]
[ music | Sufjan Steven's Songs for Christmas ]

You'd better watch out:

Charlottes Web - This family flick, based on the beloved novel is getting some critical love...but from the trailers and commercials I honestly can't see why.
The Pursuit of Happyness - Spelling mistakes aside, this looks really good.  I am a big fan of Will Smith, and sometimes you just need movies like this.
Eragon - Another movie based on a book, this one is getting far less critical praise though...other than the dragons, who needs another movie like this?
The Good German - Not getting the early warm reception that you'd expect even so, this film does look interesting.

You'd better not cry:

Big fan of the title on this one... we got a teaser trailer for Live Free or Die Hard. (Not sure about the casting of Justin Long...)

And then all my dreams came true... So did you hear that Natalie Portman is in Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited!!?

Not sure who asked for this
...so umm they are making a Nancy Drew movie... honestly the trailer looks awful.

A combination of great things
...should look better than this...Zach Braff and Jason Bateman (and others) are on the Fast Track.

I wish Mike Myers would go back to actually being in movies .... we have the first trailer for the 3rd Shrek...Shrek the Third

Sorry this is up Sat instead of Friday
My internet was down for the last 2 days
Have a good weekend little ones.

Been sick the last two days, but mostly better today... [14 Dec 2006|03:32pm]

Today, the Golden Globe Nominees were announced.  The thing that I like about the GG's over the Oscars is that they include TV and they seem to pick more interesting nominees.  So I suggest you check out the list, there sure are some interesting choices.

See ya tomorrow for more trailers and news

Cleaning my fish tank, tons of fun. [12 Dec 2006|01:45pm]

This is what comes out today:

Talladega Nights - I am a big fan of Will Farrel, and I'm glad for him that this flick did well...but I didn't love it.  AnchorMan was great, I thought this was just good.
World Trade Center - I actually went to see this by myself, just didn't feel like a "go see with your buds" kinda flick.  But for the most part it's very good.
The Devil Wears Prada - Of course I never read the book, but I went with my girl to see this when it first came out and we both thought it was really good.
Material Girls - The Duff sisters get all Mary-Kate and Ashely on us.

Roseanne Season 6 - Your average all-american family are back in their 6th season, classic mid-90's.
Full House Season 5 - Everyone my age watched this show when they were young, and I may have had a crush on on Becky.
Ellen Season 5 - Before she was dancing on a talk show, she came out on her sitcom.

For everything else head over here

Turtles are awesome, especially when they are Teenage and Mutant...new trailer kids.

Have a good day

10.The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006)$3.31M$77.2M

Things are crazy on my end:  So these are your weekend totals, not a terrible weekend for the flicks.  I saw The Holiday with my girl, and we both liked it.  And I got a Wii over the weekend, and I love it.  Hey friends, you are just going to have to live with the snow news this month.  But, the AFI did post their list of the 10 best shows of 2006, it's a fairly good list (but where is the Studio 60??)

But here's what they think:

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA
DEXTER
ELIZABETH I
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
HEROES
THE OFFICE
SOUTH PARK
24
THE WEST WING
THE WIRE

Other than that,
hope you had a good Monday.
Check back tomorrow for new stuff on DVD

Trying to get a Wii tomorrow:

Apocalypto - I don't care about Mel's personal life, I still have absolutely zero desire to see this...ever.
Blood Diamonds - I think Leonardo DiCaprio is one of this generations best actors, but I don't really know what to make of this one.
The Holiday - A movie for the ladies, and sensitive guys who like jack black.
Unaccompanied Minors - I think you have to be a kid to want a watch a movie like this, or really love Lewis Black.

Tiny bits of news:

We have a new trailer for the film version of Frank Millers 300

Spike Lee is going to take on the LA RIOTS

Hilary Swank is in the new trailer for The Reaping

A bunch of other trailers and clips.

Guys, the new job is taking it's toll
Things are slow in the news
and crazy with me
it will all level out soon.
Have a good weekend buddies.

2.Casino Royale (2006)$15.6M$116M
3.Deja Vu (2006)$11M$44.1M

10.Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj (2006)$2.38M$2.38M

So I don't think that Nativity movie made as much as they thought it would, but I'm sure it will make enough over the next few weeks.  Just so you know, news is going to slow down a lot this month, what with the holidays and everything.

We do have a little feature on the new Harry Potter, you can click here to see that.

I'll let you know when anything noteworthy comes up
Hope you all had a good weekend.

More happening than November Sweeps:

Superman Returns - I thought this was a great movie, and even though it seems no one else does, I still do.
The Ant Bully - Is it just me of is there something kinda creepy about this one?
Clerks II - I have a soft spot for Kevin Smith flicks, and this was funny...but I did think it went way too far at that one part.

7th Heavem Season 3 - Nightime soap opera for Christians, what a great idea.
Bones - What is this CSI with that Angel guy?
Touched by an Angel  Season 3 Vol 2 - I love how at the end of every show a light comes on one of them and they tell the random person in trouble that they are, in fact, an angel.
Joan of Arcadia Season 2 - A girl in high school starts talking to God, who appears in random people.
Astro Boy Box Set - Astro Boy is very awesome.

An Evening With Kevin Smith II - Basically Kevin Smith tells random stories to College kids, again.
SuperMan II The Richard Donner Cut - Basically a bunch of stuff that was cut has been put back in.
Superman Massive Collection - If you really like Superman, and you don't own the old ones on DVD already, now's your chance.
Robin Hood - This is a childhood classic, I mean who didn't watch this when they were a kid?

I know it may sound like there is ton of drama over here
and no I'm not trying to get ratings or anything
but tomorrow is my birthday.
Thank you to everyone who said congrats
have a good tuesday.

"Laura let you leave the house like that??"

Deja Vu - Hey, at least it looks better than Domino.
The D and the Pic of Destiny - I love Jack Black, so I'm fine with laughing at his antics for an hour and a half, regardless of how stupid this movie probably is.
For Your Consideration - Going into wider release the mockumentary about Hollywood from Christopher Guest.
The Fountain - The 14th film with Hugh Jackman this year.
Deck the Halls - There are about one millions better Christmas movies you could watch.  I feel sorry for both Danny Devito and Matt Broderick.

Well being that it's Thanksgiving weekend in the states,
there isn't much news.
Have a good one friends.

Sadly Peter Jackson will not be making The Hobbit.

Seinfeld's Kramer says some awful things.  Not putting a link, too terrible. Do some research if you must.

And in another sad story, director Robert Altman passed away, he was 81.

To all my little buddies in the States,
Happy Thanksgiving.

8.Babel (2006)$2.9M$12M
9.The Departed (2006)$2.59M$114M
10. $2.31M$2.31M

It's a near tie in the box-office:  I saw the new Bond over the weekend, and thought it was great...mostly.  Alot better than the last few anyways, so if you heven't seen it, I suggest you do.  Also I got a chance to see Stranger the Fiction, and I thought that was really good too.  It may be lighter than most films it's like, but that doesn't mean it isn't just as great.  So if you're into films like that, be sure to check it out.

Last Friday I mentioned some footage from the new teaser trailer for the Harry Potter, well now you can check out the whole thing...and it's glorious.

The Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3 come out this weekend. [18 Nov 2006|02:06am]
[ music | pedro the lion ]

Hey Crab-Man:

Casino Royal - James Bond is back in a big way. A Bond flick getting great buzz and critical praise...that hasn't happened in many years.
Happy Feet - Sure March of the Penguins was informative and cute, but did they dance? Sidenote: I'm so glad they didn't call this "Dance of the Penguins"
Let's Go to Prison - This would be a whole lot funnier if this was a movie about Gob from the AD, and we'd get to see a chicken dance.
For Your Consideration - The grandfather of the mock-docs is back, and he brought his usual group. I may not love these guys, but I sure respect them.
Fast Food Nation - I think everyone knows that fast food isn't good for you, and they say knowledge is power.
Bobby - I have a confession, when I was a kid I really loved the Mighty Ducks' movies.

Good News:

David Fincher, the director of Fight Club & Se7en is back with a new thriller...check out the trailer for Zodiac.

What kid wouldn't want this on his wall? Click here to see the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix teaser poster.

Do you really love the HP? Cause you can get a glimps of the new trailer right here.

Is Val Kilmar making a comeback?
And what do you think of him play Andy Warhol in Factory girl? Don't think of anything of him playing Andy, that's Guy Pearce.  Thanks for catching that [info]dakoulkid

Talk about a teaser: Vince Vaughn will play Santa Claus' brother in Fred Claus...Vaughn and Paul Giamatti are very funny in this teaser trailer.

Was any asking for this? Are We Done Yet? Yes, that is a sequel to that Ice Cube movie...unfortunatly.

Ben Stiller goes all Robin Williams...with Robin Williams. New trailer for Night at the Museum.

Sorry it's late friends,
It was done at 3, but my computer messed up and I lost it.
Pretty frustrating to say the least.
Have a great weekend.

Lots of stuff coming out today:

The DaVinci Code - The controversial thriller from Ron Howard with Tom Hanks and the wonderful Audrey Tautou.
Strangers with Candy - The movie prequal to the Amy Sedaris & Stephen Colbert created show about a 46 year old ex-drug addict.
Who Killed the Electric Car? - Good question, I wonder if this documentary will help the progression of different types of cars...
Accepted - Kids go to College, or in this case, start their own...then wild crazy stuff happens and people my age are supposed to love it.
John Tucker Must Die - If John Tucker is the name of the personal responsible for crap like this, then go ahead and kill him.

Six Feet Under Series Box Set - I've recently started watching this show, it's really very good.
Baywatch Season 1 - Now you don't have to wait for the reruns to watch girls run in slow motion and see the Hoff.  For the record: The Hoff is gross.
CSI Season Six - The original CSI set in Las Vegas, still the best one if you ask me.
Family Guy Volume 4 - Frat boys rejoice...(INSERT RANDOM FLASHBACK HERE)
The Golden Girls Season Six - The classic show about a bunch of old women sitting around talking about stuff that bugs them.
Home Improvement Season 5 - Evidence that Tim Allen has seen better days, although anything is better than what he's up to these days.
The Original TV Christmas Classics - Just in case you can't find them on TV this Holiday Season, you can own them for yourself.
Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers Vol 2 - I totally watched this when I was a kid, good times.
DuckTales Vol 2 - I used to watch this too, us 80's kids had it good.
Looney Toons Volume 4 - And who didn't grow up on these?  I wouldn't buy them mostly because I think I've seen every episode 8504393029 times.
The King & I  50th Anniversary - My girl loves this movie, and I have to say as far as musicals go...it's pretty good.
King Kong Extended Edition - If there is one movie that doesn't need to be longer, it's King Kong.  Wonder if they fixed the CGI during the dino scene, cause it was awful in the theatrical release.

Wow, that was alot.  But there is more, so click here to see the rest.

I would like to say something:
Please don't watch sucky movies or shows.  In case you didn't know how it works, the studios keep making what sells.  So if the most idiotic features make a ton of cash, then they keep making them.  Like what you want, and feel free to disagree with me. But part of the reason I am fairly negative about stuff I think sucks is because I love films and TV and am sick of seeing junk make tons of money.

That will about do it for today.

1.Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006)$29M$67.8M
2.The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006)$16.9M$41.1M
3.Flushed Away (2006)$16.7M$39.9M
4.Stranger Than Fiction (2006)$14.1M$14.1M

7.The Departed (2006)$5.24M$110M
8.The Return (2006/I)$4.78M$4.78M
9.The Prestige (2006)$4.63M$46M
10.A Good Year (2006)$3.77M$3.77M

Borat with the win again:  The box office looking much like it did last week, except for the new smaller films added.  I didn't get a chance to see Stranger Than Fiction over the weekend, I plan on seeing it this week sometime.  If you saw something over the weekend that you loved (or hated) let us know.

Not much news: But we've got a link to that Simpson's trailer I mentioned on Friday.  Not sure why they made another teaser and then called it a trailer... but you can check it out here.

Also, I love The Office on NBC:
The team behind the original British version are writing an episode for the American's...sounds great.

Hey Brother:

Stranger Than Fiction - It's been a good year for Will Ferrell, and this looks good as well.  The man redeemed his whole career in under a year, good for him.
Babel - Opening in a wider release, this is a Crash-styled tale of people's different stories and how they relate.
Harsh Times - I think Christian Bale is one of the best actors working today, but this look like it's trying to be a little too "tuff" for it's own good.
A Good Year - Yawn, let me guess...he finds out life is more than working all the time?  Didn't see that coming.
The Return - Yawn x2...please tell me why horror is either the grossest torture we can imagine or PG-13 flicks like this...come on, where is the creativity?

So I trust you've seen the Spidey3 trailer, it's more of the same goodness if you ask me.

Did you hear that NBC has given Studio 60 a full season?  That is great news!

Psssst....if you like the Simpsons, you may want to watch this sunday because they'll be playing a trailer.

Thats about it, have a good weekend
